Choose finishes by discussing their suitability for the room, moisture exposure and care requirements, not appearance alone.
Consider the room and conditions
A kitchen, bathroom and basement can expose finishes to different everyday conditions. Tell your design team how each space is used and whether there are visible moisture concerns.
Georgia humidity is part of the broader comfort discussion, but it does not establish what is happening inside a particular home. Ask for property-specific review rather than assuming a material change addresses a moisture issue.
Compare more than the surface color
Look at textures, joins and how materials will meet nearby surfaces. Ask about cleaning and ongoing care before choosing a finish that requires a routine you do not want to maintain.
Review proposed products using their current guidance and the needs of the actual room. This article does not recommend a brand or guarantee performance for a material.
Connect choices to the whole design
Use samples together to see how cabinetry, flooring, tile and fixtures relate. A restrained palette can still include contrast through texture and proportion.
